was a 8 days mobility for young people that took place in Attersee, Austria from 22 of July until 28 of July 2024. Host organisation was Youth Group "Be Up" from Austria. The youth exchange gathered 21 participants coming from Austria, Croatia and Slovakia.
In today’s world, where the effects of climate change are becoming increasingly evident, educating young people about the environment and sustainable living is crucial. The Erasmus+ Youth Project, spearheaded by the Austrian organization Be Up, took this challenge head-on. Be Up set out on a mission to raise environmental awareness among young Europeans. This international collaboration aimed to empower participants to adopt sustainable habits, reduce their carbon footprint, and embrace environmentally conscious lifestyles through the power of sports and outdoor activities.
At the heart of the Erasmus+ project was the desire to make young people more aware of their environmental impact, specifically focusing on reducing CO2 emissions in everyday life. As climate change accelerates, understanding how our daily habits contribute to it is more important than ever. The project’s organizers wanted participants to leave with practical knowledge and strategies for making eco-friendly choices, both at home and in their communities.
What made this Erasmus+ project unique was its integration of sports and environmental education. Physical activities such as hiking, cycling, and various team sports were not only enjoyable ways for participants to stay active but also demonstrated how these activities could align with an eco-conscious lifestyle. The outdoor sports component allowed participants to connect more deeply with nature. By immersing themselves in the natural world, they gained a better understanding of why protecting it is so important. Activities like nature hikes reinforced the message that the planet’s ecosystems are delicate, and every step we take to protect them is vital.
